A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones. (18:22) Scientific studies have proven in recent years that a positive attitude increases good health. Proverbs was written over 2,000 years ago. I think God had a jump on science. He was, after all, the one who started it all. (Note my sarcastic tone please. There are many, many things in the Bible that scientists are just now figuring out. God must chuckle!) A good outlook on life can make a difference in your health boosting your health or if it pushes you out of the bed to do a little exercise each day (which also improves your health).
My reasoning for choosing verse 22 is because I want you to look at scripture relevantly. I don't want you to just simply read them. Yes, the words were penned over 2,000 years ago, some long before that. But these proverbs (and all scripture) is so very relevant to our world today. Go back and re-read all of them. Think about them and you will see that they, indeed, apply to your life. And yes, there is scientific proof to back them and as well as historical documents, too. All of that is for another post, though.
